about

Available online for the first time in a long while, this self-titled release written between 1998-2000, is both introspective and retrospective captures a moment in time in the early development of theStark's style, compositional, sound design, engineering, and production abilities.

Beginning with a few experimental pieces filled with exploratory movement and toying with individually crafted sound— using levels of effects and distortion not normally found in cleaner electronic compositions, this work begins to lay the foundation of what is to come towards the end of the album: gritty industrial dance club grinds filled with angst and frustration. Personal relationships and politics fill the songs "Big Bright Future," "Purge," "inamerika, " and "Soul Sucker."

"The Conversation" is especially poignant. The next few years would be a fountain of music, upheaval, change, and eventually evolution.

    Life is change.

    Change can be instant.

    Devastation can yield magnificent results.

theStark moved from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Oregon during this time where he continued to learn, and grow, musically, and personally.

Remastered between 2010 and 2015.
